IT/IS Investment Evaluation and Control
The co-called “productivity paradox of information technology” expresses the observation, that there is no clear link between the use of IT, productivity, and economic growth. Studies suggest that IT does not affect business value directly, but the effects are dependent on the organisational appropriation of IT. However, despite significant efforts, researchers have not been able to provide robust theory to explain the business value of IT to the present day. This research gap and the practical need for advice are strong motivations for us to conduct research on the planning and control of IT/IS investments.
